Maternity Photography

‘9 months preparing to fall in love for a lifetime’

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words and this is true of the beautiful images we capture during a maternity session: they convey the tenderness with which a woman caresses her tummy, her downward gaze already full of love for her unborn baby; the immense pride with which a soon-to-be father embraces his partner; the awe he feels towards her and for the miracle that she is nurturing; and the wonder in a toddler's eyes as they try to comprehend that this growing bump will soon be a real baby brother or sister.

During pregnancy, some women feel invincible and glowing, while others feel self-conscious and unsure of their growing body; either way, I will aim to make you feel comfortable, at ease and ultimately beautiful in our private studio. I use soft lighting, delicate draping materials and sensitive post-production techniques to ensure that the resulting photographs are ones that you love and that you are proud to share.

You are very welcome to bring your partner and other children to participate in the shoot.

Please do get in touch so I can answer any questions you may have, and to book a session for 30-34 weeks into your pregnancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to be photographed?

The best time to photograph a baby bump is between 30 and 34 weeks. By this point, you will have a lovely rounded bump, and you should still feel comfortable moving into and briefly holding different poses. If you are expecting twins, you may prefer to be photographed at the start of this period or even slightly before.

Where is the session held?

Your Maternity session will take place in my dedicated studio in central Tunbridge Wells. There is parking available directly outside. Once here, you can leave the busy, noisy everyday world behind and relax in a tranquil space.

Do you Work on Weekends?

I have a few limited spaces available at the weekend for Maternity sessions, but these slots fill up quickly. Please contact me early in your pregnancy to avoid disappointment. All other photography sessions are booked between Monday and Friday.

How do I book my session?

Please complete an online enquiry form (see below) including your due date and I will be in touch to answer any further questions you may have and to propose some dates for your photo shoot. Alternatively, feel free to call me to discuss your session. Please be aware that if I am photographing a client, I will not be able to take your call, but please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

When should I book my session?

To increase the chances of securing your preferred date, I recommend booking your photography session as soon as possible following your 12 week scan.

When will I see the images?

On the day of your session I will photograph your little one in different poses and different outfits. You will be presented with a curated gallery of over 20 photographs at your viewing session, which we will schedule to take place approximately two weeks later. This is the exciting moment when you will choose and order your photographs, so I advise that all decision makers are present at this meeting. We will discuss the options for wall art which can be ordered at this stage too and which will be available at a future date.

How much does it cost?

Storage-4.jpg

There is a session fee of £100. This covers my time and expertise.

You will choose and order your favourite photos at a separate viewing session approximately two weeks after your photography shoot. Prices start at £55 for an individual printed image and its corresponding digital copy. Collections start at £450 for 10 images.

Please refer to the Investment page for more details.

Mummys-to-be often decide that they’d like one or two very special pieces of wall art to display in the nursery or bedroom. We can talk about creating a stunning heirloom piece that you can one day pass on to your (grown up!) baby and look at examples in the studio if this is something that you are interested in.

Can I just buy digital files?

All of my collections include both the printed and corresponding digital copies of the photographs that you select on a USB. Digital files cannot be bought separately. There is nothing like holding your memories in your hands, and I believe that they deserve to be displayed using only the highest quality, professional materials.

Is there a minimum spend requirement when it comes to ordering my photos?

Absolutely not. You will only purchase the photographs that you absolutely adore, whether that is a single image or the full collection. There will certainly be no hard sell.
