Thank you!

6 weeks, 35 families photographed, 1 street party, more than 150 hours editing and over £1700 raised for bereavement charity, Widowed and Young!

This certificate from WAY may be made out in my name, but thank you so much to all of you who took part in the Lockdown Doorstep Portraits Project and helped to raise this incredible total.

“We had a wonderful time with Lucy. She was incredible with our little boy and knew exactly the right things to say to put us all at ease. We feel honoured to have been part of her project for WAY and hope to use her again in the future.” Lauren, Tunbridge Wells

Being out and about meeting lovely new local families in a safe way, has been a wonderful boost to my mental health and, from your kind comments, I believe that it has also been a boost for those I have photographed.

There have been so many smiles and it has really felt like a celebration of family, of quality time spent together and a strengthening of parents’ relationships as they pull together as a team united against the challenges of Lockdown.

I have seen so many flourishing vegetable patches, flowers proudly grown from seeds, rainbows lovingly drawn and displayed in windows, bug hotels created, and medals awarded to recognise new physical achievements. Parents have described the stronger bonds between siblings and between neighbours - some of whom people had never even met before coming together for the weekly clapping in support of the NHS. Furry family members have been included and celebrated for providing the perfect opportunity to get out and about in the countryside for walks and for boosting mental health with their devoted companionship.

Yes, it is easy to focus on the negatives of lockdown - especially when watching the news - but I hope that this small sample of the moments we captured during the project shows that there have been plenty of positives too.

Stay safe everyone!

If you missed the opportunity to book at Doorstep Portrait, my dedicated studio has now reopened and so I’d love to welcome you in for a family photoshoot and continue to celebrate this time spent together.
